This project came about as a result of the Flintshire library bus service coming to an end due to funding issues. Staff at Deeside College were concerned the children in their Toybox nursery would not have the opportunity to experience what it was to visit a library service and the whole process of making a personal book choice and to enjoy reading what they had chosen. They therefore decided to develop something to enable the children to continue visiting a library.
Of course this is a worthwhile project – anything that brings youngsters into the world of the library should be supported. The entry scores highly on ‘partnerships’ – in that the call for books for the children proved to be pretty successful, the sustainability of the project also looks strong. However this does appear more as a project (and a valuable one) and less of a marketing campaign.
