About Literature Wales

Literature Wales supports writers and the literary culture of Wales through bursaries, mentoring, workshops, and training. They bring writers into schools, community spaces and festivals, and run national programmes such as Wales Book of the Year and the National Poet of Wales.

But their work goes beyond the page. They’re focused on inclusion and fairness, aiming to make the literary scene in Wales more representative of the country’s full diversity. They also believe in the power of writing to support well-being, spark creativity, and raise awareness of issues like climate change.

Literature Wales works in both Welsh and English, and partners with organisations across the country to run projects, offer funding, and deliver events. Backed by the Arts Council of Wales and other supporters, they’re here to make sure literature in Wales continues to thrive.
