Family History

You might like to visit your local library or archive service to research your family’s history, to explore your ancestors or maybe you are researching your family tree. Public libraries and archive record offices in Wales currently provide free access to Ancestry Online. This resource can help you with your family history research.
The online access is usually only available from computers in public libraries and archive/record offices/museums in Wales, but currently due to the COVID pandemic, access is being provided remotely until 31 December 2021. From the beginning of January 2022, access will resume only via dedicated computers in public libraries and archive/record offices/museums in Wales.
For information on how to access Ancestry remotely, visit your library’s local authority website on Find your nearest library.
